Question: How do I decide the power (and size) of an onboard Generator ?
Answer: You can either contact us or calculate the power requirement yourself, but you need to consider the following: What appliances are being run? Lighting/TV/Radios/Computer, total all the individual power consumption figures to get an Overall figure. It is also important to realise that INDUCTIVE LOADS (appliances such as motors) often use up to 3 times their normal power when first starting up. If you have additional onboard batteries you may need extra capacity for charging. Consideration of physical size, and space availability is often important, overall generator dimensions will shortly be available.
Question: How do I make my boat go faster?
Answer: The simple obvious answer is to get a bigger engine, but knowing what a given engine output will produce in terms of Knots, is more involved. We can help, and soon we will have a page outlining engine selection considerations and calculations, until then call us with as much information about your boat as possible; hull sizes, manufacturer, displacement, gearbox ratio, prop dimensions, etc.
Question: Are rope cutters easy to fit?
Answer: Yes, all you need to know is the prop shaft diameter and the free distance between the prop boss and skeg. Call us and we can have one to you in less than 48 hours, fitting is simple. It's a case of cleaning the shaft and attaching the clamp on version. If you wish to use the slide on version, you have to remove the propeller then sliding and fixing the cutter onto the shaft, and then replacing the propeller.
Question: My propeller is badly pitted, can I repair it, do I need a new one, if so where can I get one?
Answer: Return the propeller, not forgetting to include your name and address and what is required. On arrival we will inspect it and give you a quotation.
Question: I have a Green/Blue/Red engine in my boat, who marinised it?
Answer: This may seem a silly question but it is frequently asked and we need to know the following:
1) Petrol or Diesel? 2) Number of cylinders? 3) Any identifying numbers or name plates? 4) Age of engine? 5) As much information as possible, which should lead to a positive identification.
